Importing presentations

Importing a presentation to Second Life involves two steps.

1. The first step is to upload each individual slide as a texture into Second Life and then add the texture to the inventory of the Power Point Presenter object.

2. Next, you need to create a notecard. In the body of the notecard, on seperate lines, you need to list the name of the textures you want to appear in the presentation. The list should be in the order you want the textures to appear.

If the presentation is set up incorrectly, the prim will generate a message in general chat, describing where the error occurred.

Directions for the player

Using the power point presenter is rather straight forward. There is a podium with three buttons on it that control the presentation.

The far left button, which looks like a line looping back to itself, resets the presentation to the first slide.

The 2nd button from the left, an arrow pointing to the left, returns to the previous slide.

The 3rd button from the left, an arrow pointing to the right, advances to the next slide.

The far right button, a circle, raises and lowers the screen. Also, when the screen is raised, it blackens the windows, preparing the room for a presentation.

PowerPoint Example

If there are three textures, red, blue, and green, that you want to appear in that order, you would first add the textures to the inventory of the PowerPoint object. Next, you would create a note card whose body should look like:

Red

Blue

Green

You would then add the notecard to the inventory of the PowerPoint presenter object. The PowerPoint presentation is now ready and the screen will be showing the first texture, Red.

If the forward button is pushed, the screen would then display the Blue texture. If you push the reset button, it would return to the texture Red. Now, if you push the previous button, the presentation would go to the Green texture, since there is not a slide before Red. If the forward button is pushed again, the presentation would return back to the Red slide.

Playing Videos

To play video in Second Life, you need to be the owner of the land. A brief tutorial on how to play video on your land can be found here.
