When you have the opportunity to facilitate a web conferencing session, these Tips will help get you started. Use some or all, as appropriate for your session.

  • Introduce yourself
  • Introduce the presentor(s) and the topic
  • Ask participants to type their email address in the chat pod... for potential use in evaluation later
  • Remind participants of who is sponsoring the session
  • Tell everyone how long the session will be (ex: 30 min, 1 hour, 1 hour and then discussion for 30 minutes, etc.)
  • Participants should mute their phones except for when they are speaking to the group
  • Participants should not put phones on hold if they have "elevator music" that comes on
  • Participant can ask questions in the chat pod
  • As facilitator, you may watch the chat pod and make sure the presentor(s) know(s) if questions/comments come in
