5. List 2008 collaborative activities and funding sources

Arkansas Extension continues to benefit from the collaborations formed as a result of PLN. Some of the current collaborations include

- Centra partnership with Texas A&M, more critical due to shrinking budgets

- Collaboration with University of Arkansas Fort Smith for Banner DR

- Part of ARE-ON (Arkansas Research and Education Optical Network) committee

In addition to the traditional funding sources, other funds include

- Revenue from support of Fair Management sales

- Matching funds from FSNE

- Rice Promotion Board

- Cotton Incorporated

- Soybean/Irrigation

- Ag Technology Transfer

- Fertilizer Tonnage funds

- Software donaation in support of Luminis portal


Texas AgriLife IT in the past year has:

- Contracted with eXtension to provide Moodle support and training

- Centra partnerships with Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky, and Oklahoma moved to Texas A&M System Centra system; provided greater capacity for the same annual cost

- Developed Excellence in Extension benchmarking database application for use CES wide; funding from ECOP

- Developed benchmarking database application for SAESD; no funding

- In partnership with County Commissioners Courts, implemented year-round technology purchasing program for county Extension based equipment

- Continued support for CECP Online; no funding


Oklahome State University Extension IT collaboratives include:

- partnership with TAMU, UKY, UA, and LSU for Centra web conferencing

- various eXtension activities


NC Extension IT

- Continued involvement with CYFERNet and goCybercamp


University of Kentucky

--Continue partnership with TAMU for Centra

--eXtension

--Continue to explore the use of grants to help push Extension IT initiatives

--Utilize Central IT offerings such as MS SharePoint and Microsoft Office Communications Server


Alabama Cooperative Extension System

  • Two grant-funded projects for which our IT Unit received salary funding for development work performed:
    • Alabama Community Healthy Marriage Initiative
    • Healthy Homes Partnership
  • Partnered with Auburn University Office of Information Technology and School of Forestry to fund deployment of MS SharePoint 2007 (MOSS).
  • Adobe Connect has been purchased by the AU Fisheries Department and is available for Extension use.
  • eXtension Imported Fire Ant COP

LSU AgCenter IT

  • Numerous grant funded initiatives
  • Rental of Compressed Video sites to State of LA professional development training group
  • eXtension
