8. How many Extension Districts are there in your state and how many county faculty are there in each of your Districts?

Georgia

Georgia is divided into 4 geographic districts of approximately 40 counties each. NE – 73 Agents NW – 99 Agents SE – 78 Agents SW- 78 Agents

Virginia

Virginia is divided into 6 geographic districts encompassing 107 counties and cities. Each district has 40-50 agent faculty on average.

Texas

Texas is divided into 12 geographic districts encompassing 254 counties. There are a total of 604 County Extension Agent positions in these counties and each county has between 35 to 65 agents per district.

Tennessee

Tennessee is divided into 3 Regions with 33,31,31 counties respectively. There are approximately 120 agents in each region.

Clemson Extension

Clemson Extension does not use a district model at this time. The Field Operations unit assumes statewide administrative duties for all 115 Agents. Rather than districts,each agent is placed on a Program Team (7 total).

LSU AgCenter

Louisiana has seven regions consisting of 9 to 12 parishes plus any research staions located within that geographic area. Most regions have 70 - 80 Extension staff and 80 - 90 staff overall.

Oklahoma

There are currently 4 Extension districts in Oklahoma consisting 21,22, 19 and 14 counties for a total of 76 county offices out of 77 counties. There are 4 district directors,and a total of 4 district FCS program specialists, 4 district 4-H program specialists and 18 area specialists (primarily ag related), along with 4 applications engineers who work with small manufacturers. There are approximately 200 county educators across the state.

Alabama

There are 3 Extension District Directors (EDD) Two have 22 counties and one has 23 counties. The Southeast Region’s EDD supervises 23 CECs directly with 44 other field staff (both part and full time) reporting through the EDD. The Southwest Region’s EDD supervises 22 CECs directly with 22 other field staff (both part and full time) reporting through the EDD. The North Region’s EDD supervises 22 CECs directly with 61 other field staff (both part and full time) reporting through the EDD.

Mississippi

Mississippi is divided into the Coastal, Central, Delta, and North region. Coastal has 56 county professionals and associated program associates and support staff. The other regions are similar although totals are in constant flux.
