Questions & Answers about Question Wrangling

Q: What do we do when there is a question from a certain state/location, but no expert from that state/location?
A: Find someone in the area of expertise if no one available in the location.

Q: When a QW assigns a question, should we add a note or leave comment blank?
A: Give some context as to why it's assigned to them if you can.

Q: What if there is no category that matches the context of the question?
A: Don't assign it a category, but try to find someone "close" to reassign it to and ask if they can help or suggest someone. Better to leave as uncategorized than to have an incorrect category. Similarly, better to recategorize to Uncategorized if appropriate.

How do you find the right person to assign a question to?

Resources to find people to answer questions include:

  • AAE database (by name, category or location),
  • authors/contributors to FAQs with similar subject matter,
  • authors/contributors to Resolved AAE questions,
  • authors of articles found through search.extension.org

How can we get more people to sign-up to answer questions?

Need to keep recruiting more question answerers! Spread the word!

How can we get more people (at least one per state) signed up as Question Wranglers?

  • perhaps county/state webmasters
