Greetings ACE IT SIG Members,
I’m Floyd Davenport, your new ACE IT SIG Chair. Joining me are Anne Adrian, Vice Chair and Emily Pitts, Vice Chair-Elect.
I want to thank Vishal Singh for his leadership this last year (and thanks for posting the minutes of our IT SIG meeting at the conference).

With the 2009 ACE/NETC conference behind us, we would like to turn our focus on this next year’s activities. We would like to hold six professional development events this year using Adobe Connect. Specifically, the following dates and times (discussed at our June meeting, second Thursday at 2:00 pm central time).

- October 8, 2009
- November 12, 2009
- February, 11, 2010
- March 11, 2010
- April 8, 2010
Please share with Anne, Emily or myself, your ideas for presentations – either areas of interest… or subjects/projects you would like to share with others. We might also consider selecting topics for open discussion and then selecting a moderator to lead the discussion with specific questions and polls. Let us know what you would like to discuss.
My hope is we can generate more interest in the IT SIG and build upon our membership.
I would also like to encourage everyone to consider the ACE Awards for this coming year. There is so much great work being done with the leadership and support of IT… we really need to recognize our colleagues across the Land Grant System. So start thinking about projects you are working on now.
Our first event “could” be September 10th… so get your ideas to us quickly. One idea might be a book review of Tara Hunt’s book the Whuffie Factor - http://www.thewhuffiefactor.com/, a very good read.
I look forward to a great, productive year with the ACE IT SIG.
