A group of 8 or 10 met at Morrill Island looking forward to a tour of Kansas State's Wildcat Islands. We're fortunate to have Tadicus Caligari, Lissa Maertens, Pusser Balboa and others from Kansas State working with eXtension as well as in Kansas State's areas of Second Life. [11:41] Thadicus Caligari: we plan on using this area for several purposes but they will be all around diversity awareness
[11:41] Lissa Maertens: The Tilford build is a fairly simple structure. I've been concentrating on the texturing. As soon as the group decides what should go in the building I'll be able to finish things up.
[11:41] Lissa Maertens: It's meant to be used for a lot of different things and on the back we've built a theater
[11:41] Lissa Maertens: the roof will serve probably as a meeting area
[11:41] MarcusAntonius Garrigus: what days are set for the recycling pickup?

[11:48] Thadicus Caligari: and one of the plans for the garden is to replicate the land in our Konza reserve a bit

[11:48] Thadicus Caligari: although we don't have to worry about bison running us over here

[12:03] Thadicus Caligari: not lots on this side, I did the land shape in a day and setup plots
[12:03] Thadicus Caligari: in Wildcat 2
[12:03] Thadicus Caligari: on the Tilford Wildcat one sim there is a lot more time
[12:03] Thadicus Caligari: What have you spent Lissa?
[12:04] Lissa Maertens: idk, I don't keep track. *L*
[12:04] Lissa Maertens: maybe 30 hours total... just because of juggling it amongst other things.
[12:04] Thadicus Caligari: I suspect I have 4 days of time over a period over there in fits and spurts
[12:04] Lissa Maertens: Will probably start hitting it a lot harder this next week.
[12:05] Thadicus Caligari: it took a couple of days just getting the wildcat shape for the land

[12:07] Thadicus Caligari: one of the deals with Wildcat One is they wanted the textures to be totally original for the building, thats lots more work

[12:08] Thadicus Caligari: well making the shapes is free but uploading images to paint the building shapes costs money
[12:08] Lissa Maertens: except you can purchase Lindens with real US $

[12:08] Lissa Maertens: the economy is similar to a free market society.
[12:09] Lissa Maertens: the exchange rate is like... 35 cents US per $100Lindens

[12:10] Thadicus Caligari: yes or using other peoples images costs too as they usually sell them

[12:11] Thadicus Caligari: some of us have spent thousands of lindens in uploading images for our projects

[12:14] Thadicus Caligari: they normally clear off the items in a sandbox once a day

[12:17] Thadicus Caligari: trick is getting some Seed money, Lissa unlike me has not put any real cash into SL yet

[12:19] Lissa Maertens: then I started renting small shops and placing my clothes in them for sale.
[12:19] Lissa Maertens: eventually got big enough
[12:19] Lissa Maertens: and the rest is history. *L*
[12:19] Thadicus Caligari: I invest $60 usd into sl a month as a hobby, but its a hobby as what I build doesn't make much money.

[12:20] Lissa Maertens: the easiest way to get lindens
[12:20] Lissa Maertens: is to purchase them using a credit card.
[12:20] Thadicus Caligari: there are lots of ways but Clothing, Hair, shoes and land seem to make the most if you are trying to create wealth in world
[12:21] Thadicus Caligari: everything else tends to be accessories and not high volume
[12:21] Lissa Maertens: I'd say clothing is probably the best selling thing in SL
[12:22] Lissa Maertens: and if you can do animations and poses
[12:22] Lissa Maertens: and then shoes are prolly 3rd most profitable.
[12:22] Thadicus Caligari: although more shoes sell then poses but cost less.
[12:22] Lissa Maertens: yes...
[12:22] Lissa Maertens: single poses aren't so bad
[12:23] Lissa Maertens: but I generally buy them by the set... especially the good ones.
