HOW TO REGISTER FOR SECOND LIFE
Go to http://slurl.com/secondlife/Morrill/151/14/24
and click on the orange SIGN UP button. After a brief registration process (it's free!) your new avatar will arrive in the fair office on Morrill Island! Remember, you can always change the appearance of your avatar later, but you can't change your avatar's name, so give that some thought. The signs in the fair office will tell you how to join the Cooperative Extension group, set your home location to Morrill, and help you with some basic orientation.
Here is some information about Getting Started in Second Life. It can be a bit overwhelming at first! Do not hesitate to email luann.phillips@extension.org with questions or to arrange for some training.

Global Kids Second Life Curriculum
Not just for kids! Covers everything an educator or student would need to know to use Second Life, whether on their own or within an educational setting. At the same time, it teaches global literacy skills. Components of the curriculum can be used as hand-outs to develop specific Second Life-specific skills or within a broader educational program designed to teach such subjects as science, filmmaking or literature.
The curriculum is composed of nine sequential “levels.” Each level is composed of modules which, in turn, are composed of individual lesson plans or “missions”. In total there are 163 missions. Free and offered under a Creative Commons license (attribution-noncommercial-share alike). Educators are encouraged to adapt this curriculum in any way they see fit, but always give credit to Global Kids and share significant changes or best practices with other professionals implementing the curriculum at RezEd.org.

Morrill Island
Home of eXtension's Virtual State Fair where you will find rides, games, and educational displays. Goats, pigs, llamas, poultry, horses and dairy cattle are in the barns, and you can even take a free demo horse for a ride, compliments of AKK Ranch in SL. The Midway Stage is available for you to stream live music into Second Life, just ask us how and we will help you set it up.
There are several large educational exhibits on the fairgrounds, including the Family Caregiving CoP "Live-ability House", The Turf Grass Big Backyard from Penn State, where you can ride a mower and really cut virtual grass, a huge Food Pyramid, the House of Germs, and coming soon a Pest Management pesky critter maze.
Morrill2
Just added in September, this is the home of virtual "Morrill County", which has two projects in development: its own county extension office, and the Smith-Lever family farm. the rest of the island has open land ready for your ideas.
