Food Safety for Small to Very Small Food Processor's Community of Practice

The Community of Practice (CoP) will be comprised of:

  • University-based Extension professionals (both state specialists and county educators)
  • Researchers
  • Educators
  • Government officials and regulators
  • Industry representatives, and
  • Other food safety or food-related professionals working at the federal, state, or local levels


Faculty from 1862 Land Grant Universities, 1890 Institutions, and Land Grant 1994 Tribal Colleges will be represented. More than 50 professionals including many nationally known food safety experts have already indicated a willingness to participate in the CoP and to contribute their particular expertise.

Thus far over 20 states – as well as Guam and Puerto Rico – are represented in the CoP, including DE, MD, FL, VA, WA, MI, NE, AZ, KS, IL, ND, WI, AL, NJ, HI, CO, PA, MO, ME, and NH. M. Lubran, a Ph.D. student from the University of Maryland, will coordinate the input from the CoP experts.
