From Extension Collaborative Wiki
Present: Jane Schuchardt, Shannon Turner (SRDC), Nick Broady, Bob Craven, Claudia Mincemoyer, Nancy Porter, Tom Coon, Mary Hightower
- Training session with Nick Broady. Nick demonstrated how to use collaborate.extension.org. To view the playback, visit: http://connect.extension.iastate.edu/p43563977/
- Deliverables:
- Jane to ask questions of eXtension team about the following concerns:
- Customer support/help button. Can a name/contact be listed for help?
- Multiple listings. When an educational resource has several different media types (e.g., web site, fact sheet, PPT), the database appears duplicative. In other words, all the describing information is the same for numerous entries. How can this be avoided?
- No media format. Some resources are available for order, hard copy only. How are these non-electronic resources referenced in the media format section?
- Nick to look into why Nancy would get a “too much data” message while entering information.
- Jane also noted that she met with Susan Sharkey the previous week and she offered an update on MiTT progress. She said Susan was thrilled to know the project was progressing well.
- Communications/Marketing and prep for ECOP meeting (Mary): The PowerPoint and message points are being created and should be ready for review by Wednesday. Mary and Terry are to meet this week to hash out national launch. This launch would not coincide with July 30 ECOP launch. Mary suggested that since ECOP was our stakeholder-in-chief, ECOP members should hear it first.
- Deliverables: Mary to have PowerPoint ready for review by Wednesday. The presentation would also be reviewed during the July 27 meeting. Terry and Mary to establish plan for post ECOP launch.
- Target audience updates (Bob, Claudia, Nancy and Shannon Turner standing in for Bo): Bob Craven (Farm/Ranch) said there were 242 documents identified from the Ag Risk Library. He said he hoped that later this week or early next week those documents would be moved over to populate MiTTNet. He also gave an update on Lyla and his discussions about forestry/natural Resources and he would e-mail all the ANR leaders (using a list maintained by CSREES) to put resources under the farm/ranch section. Bob anticipated having close to 300 documents in MiTTNet by July 30.
- - Claudia Mincemoyer (Youth) said the “youth section is slow to populate,” with 12 curriculums in the database. She said summer was as busy time for people in the 4-H world. And some of the resources that are relevant end up in individuals/families, because they are targeted toward parents, service providers, agencies, etc. She expected this group to have the smallest number of entries in the database.
- - Nancy Porter (Individuals/Families) said there were 114 resources. She noted that there were some technical issues that arose, such as users of Explorer 6.X would not be able to upload content. She also noted that her screen does not look like the screen of others who are inputting, which limits her ability to talk others through the entry process. Nancy noted other concerns related to indicating the media format for non-electronic resources, specifically that items available in multiple media formats seem to be listed multiple times.
- - Shannon Turner (Community development) said she and an intern were collaborating with Bo on getting resources into the database. As of last week, the group had identified about 300 possible resources that looked good to the committee and the committee had whittled that group down to 97.
- Deliverables: See No. 1 for deliverables.
- eXtension comments (Dan): Dan was not on the call.
- Evaluation (Rich - report tentatively scheduled for August 3): No additional comments from evaluation team.
- Funding (Arkansas team): Mary said that Anne had been in touch with Dennis, who had questions about the project and would be in touch with Jane. Arkansas is working on getting the facilitator paid and SRDC reimbursed.
- Other: The group has two more regular meetings scheduled. What comes from the evaluation and communications groups will determine if or when additional meetings will be scheduled.
- Both Tom and Jane noted how much was accomplished in the relatively short window between ECOP approval in February to July. Congratulations!
