MiTT Conference Call Summary June 15, 2009

  • MittNet and eXtension report (Dan and Ray): Dan introduced Ray Kimsey, NCSU, who has developed MittNet. Henrietta Ritchie-Holbrook, UK, who worked on the graphic design. See http://mittnet.extension.org. The database is operational and ready for use. Note the farm/ranch data was imported to test the database (“show proof of concept”) and will be replaced with other content. The “contact us” page of MiTTNet is under development. Needs email addresses. Dan working on this. The Google-powered search engine for MiTT works. Thanks to the U of MN for pulling this together. MiTT documents provided by Mary have been added to http://collaborate.extension.org. ACTION Needed – Training for core leadership team -- Dan will schedule webinar for 2:30 p.m. Eastern, Monday, June 22, 2009 to walk through use of MittNet. This will be recorded. Bob and Claudia have conflict. Will review later.) National rollout webinar (likely last part of July; decide at June 22nd meeting). Can have eXtension ID if email is dot gov or dot edu. Anyone else needs to have CoP member “vouch” for them. Need eXtension ID to input data into MiTTNet. Communication to CES will clearly explain who we expect to be entering data. In other words, only a few of those who have an eXtension ID will be encouraged to enter data. This is at the discretion of the audience target leads. It was recommended we may have another training for those entering data. We will make that determination at the June 22nd meeting.
  • Audience target reports (Nancy, Bob, Bo, Claudia): Individual/Family (Nancy) – After training on Monday, June 22, has some info to put in data base. Recommends rollout to CES around third week of July. Farm/Ranch (Bob) – Met with farm management committees, worked on MittNet and Ag Risk Library interface, expects responses by June 25th with tagged documents appropriate for MittNet, will get to Ray by June 30th. Communities (Bo) – Searched http://search.extension.org and found 135 potential programs/materials. Establishing protocol for review of products and mechanism to communicate with authors. Youth (Claudia) – Letter drafted for CSREES NPL(s) to send to youth development network.
  • Communications/marketing report (Mary): Mary will check action plan drafted by Susan at planning meeting, get with Terry, and be prepared to propose a timeline and communications plan for additional MiTTNet training (if needed) and national rollout. Mary (I hope – we didn’t discuss this specifically) will help with a one-page report for Tom to use with ECOP last week in July.
  • Evaluation report (Karen and Rich): Evaluation of planning meeting is in process. Current response is 21 out of 37. Will send another reminder and have report for ECOP by end of July.
  • ECOP report (Tom): ECOP positive about progress to date. Needs one-page report for ECOP (joint COPS) meeting last week in July. Jane and Lyla need to give Tom interim reports as available and if appropriate. ECOP wants national launch. Directors/administrators will help get the word out about MiTTNET content and use.
  • CSREES grant (Anne): In process of changing PI, working with Mary on sub-contract with SRDC, waiting on one person to submit expenses. Will provide report when available.
