MiTT Core team

  • Submitted by Mary Hightower
  • Present: Jane Schuchardt, Ray Kimsey, Mary Hightower, Terry Meisenbach, Claudia Mincemoyer, Karen Ballard, Nancy Porter, Lyla Holglum. Tom Coon, James Wade, Vicki Vaughn
  • MiTTNet ready for input (Dan/Ray): Ray Kimsey provided an update, completing the three deliverables from the June 22 call, namely: 1) Changed “clone” to “duplicate” in all instances; 2) Instructional webcast for inputting information recorded on June 29, awaiting URL from Floyd Davenport. The search engine is working, but Ray will work with Minnesota to iron out style sheet issues. Discussion ensued about material that had been input and was findable by search, but not actually present in the database. Ray said the database had been wiped and a cached search was probably the reason it was showing up in the search. Materials will have to be re-entered. Ray said he was available for any questions. Deliverables: Floyd has been asked, and has agreed, to send URL to Terry and Mary for inclusion in letter.
  • MiTTNet letter, announcement to directors: Terry Meisenbach had adapted Claudia’s letter. The letter was waiting for the training session URL for completion. Jane said the letter should carry a note at the top that it’s a template for customization by each content leader. She also requested it be adjusted to reword the sentence including it being “sent via CSREES NPLs to state program leaders” to reflect varied strategies among the four content groups. Other changes would include the date of the ECOP rollout, and change in deadlines to input material to the directory). Deliverables: Mary to make adjustments to template per discussion above, forward letters to Jane, Lyla and Tom for review.
  • Non-agenda discussion arose about whether Farm/Ranch should solicit resources outside of the Ag Risk Education Library. Deliverables: Lyla Holglum was to contact Bob Craven to address the first topic. Mary to send contact information for Bob to Lyla.
  • Audience Team Reports: Claudia noted the team was in a holding pattern pending completion of the solicitation letter. Nancy asked why the teams were not using search.extension.org. The answer seemed to be that using that URL would move users away from the database. Nancy also noted that there were 3,000 personal finance resources on CYFERNet and asked if those materials would have to be re-input to MiTTNet. She also asked whether any of the resources currently in CYFERNet could/should be transferred to MiTTNet in the same way the farm/ranch group was moving materials from the Ag Risk Education database. Deliverables: Jane was to direct the question about transferring material from CYFERNet to Dan Cotton. Lyla was going to ask Bob Craven how his group was doing the materials transfer.
  • July 29th launch plans – ECOP and CES: Terry Meisenbach had completed a draft of the “launch” letter that would be sent by Tom Coon in anticipation of the launch at the July 29 ECOP meeting. James Wade noted that the schedule had yet to be set, but July 30 would be the date with the most time. Wade was going to revisit the schedule on July 2 to finalize a date for the ECOP presentation. Deliverables: Mary would change the letter to reflect the new date (once final). Mary will also work with core group to provide message points for his presentation. Karen Ballard volunteered to work on a PowerPoint.
  • Evaluation: Karen Ballard noted that the Arkansas extension Webmaster was on vacation, so could not check to see if the full complement of attendees had taken the survey. However, she expected to be able to aggregate the survey information next week.
  • Funding: Mary noted that Vicki had sent the final spending report to Anne Sortor, who was out of the office on Monday. Sortor said she would review the report on her return to the office. Deliverables: Report to core committee to see if there are leftover funds to pay Ray Kimsey for his work.
  • Marketing plan for MiTTNet to CES: This item was tabled until the July 13 meeting.
