MiTTNet Marketing Plan

1. Audience:

  • CES workers with interest in MiTTNet topics: individual & family, farm & ranch, youth, community.
  • CES Directors/Administrators
  • USDA
  • Other non-public audiences as determined by MiTT leadership

2. Objectives:

  • Continue to offer training to agents/educators to make them aware of MiTTNet
  • Keep audience members updated on MiTT Initiative, additions to MiTTNet directory, success stories, best practices, and related information
  • Provide timely, targeted information to audience
  • Facilitate evaluation of MiTTNet efforts

3. Strategies:

  • Fully employ eXtension's people.extension.org application to enhance and target communications
  • Distribute responsibility for content for timely, targeted information to larger communications team beyond current membership.
    • Leadership of each of the content/topic areas to identify communicators to be added to the communications/marketing team; additions to be made by August 24, 2009.
  • Begin move of MiTT initiative to eXtension professional development community of practice status.

4. Tactics:

  • Using current contacts in four subject matter/topic areas direct two messages, spaced two weeks apart, soliciting individuals to:
    • 1. get an eXtension ID via people.extension.org, if they do not have one, and
    • 2. once they have that ID go into people.extension.org, and join MiTT community.
  • Make URL of national web conference (and thus training on how to use the directory) a part of all email messages.
  • Message will talk about benefits of being part of eXtension in general but STRESS that this is how communication about MiTT will be done after September:
    • 1. Additional updates in content, etc. would also be provided if available.
  • Beginning September 1, one email will be sent to the MiTT list every two weeks. Messages will talk about: new content added since previous week, best practices learned, evaluation information i.e. Google Analytics, testimonials, etc.
  • Messages will feature one topic area per message.
  • Message content will be provided by each topic area and edited/templated by communications/marketing team.
    • Each quarter (September 1, December 1, March 1, June 1) a communication will be sent to Extension Directors/Administrators summarizing highlights from each

5. Evaluation:

  • In cooperation with MiTT evaluation specialists, changes in Google Analytics (site visits, page views, etc.) will be monitored and analyzed.
