Budget Narrative
Extension Foundation
Online Investment Education for Farm Households
The project manager, Dr. Nancy Porter, will oversee the project while playing an active role in the IFYF enhancement. Her knowledge and familiarity with both IFYF and Financial Security for All will make for a smooth and seamless transfer of the information to the new technology. IFYF, though on the Internet, is primarily in text format and does not maximize the full potential of electronic delivery. Resource manager, Dr. Barb O’Neill will oversee and enhance the content to insure it is current, adapted, appropriate, and readily available to meet the needs of the project.
Dr. Michael Lambur will oversee and manage the evaluation of the project and the evaluation staff. Data and results will be available for publications and presentations. The release funds for the leaders of the project are necessary to provide the leadership and time commitment to make the project reality.
This project will be done virtually when possible with minimal face-to-face time by using the technology available. Experience has shown one on one time is necessary and some has been budgeted, as well as conference calls to discuss the project and meet the goals and objectives. The majority of the work will be conducted in electronic workspace available through eXtension.
The eXtension Foundation will complete contracts with the appropriate firms and individuals to complete the project. The Foundation has extensive experience in completing these contracts in a timely fashion to facilitate the required outcomes.
Program delivery includes educational materials, supplies, marketing, instruction time, and oversight to facilitate the project. Through Annie’s Project, IFYF may be exposed to 4,000 farm businesswomen over the two-year period. In addition, thousands of farm businesswomen outside of Annie’s Project may be exposed to IFYF.
In addition, eXtension will provide gift-in-kind funding for $100,000 per year in services. This will include additional program development, marketing and communications, information technology support, and fund development to assist the IFYF team on this project. The team will have access to the faculty and staff of the Land Grant System to recruit additional team members to assist in areas of need and the Financial Security for All Community of Practice as well as industry leaders to insure the project’s success.
The project principals will also provide additional time to the project above the amount in the grant budget.
Team members and their employers, primarily public universities, will assist with technology, while eXtension will host the Internet technology for IFYF.
