Procedures to Disable Information Technology Services for Staff Leaving Employment of the College of Ag Sciences at Penn State

There are four (4) common scenarios for staff when leaving employment of the college. Each will be described here along with the steps which need done to ensure appropriate closure to their IT services.

Termination of Employment with Penn State and the College of Ag Sciences

Supervisor or User:
Notifies ICT of last scheduled date of employment via the online submission form.

  • ICT will contact to schedule an appointment time for close of accounts and get information about the data storage locations.

User will:

  1. Organize Data, Email and/or Favorites this is preparation for moving off your computer to the appropriate location. (ICT will help export email and favorites)
  2. MOVE all department/Office related data/email/favorites to the agreed designated Server Share folder.
  3. Copy personal data, favorites and personal mail they want to take with them. See back up how-to's below for assistance.

NOTE: Once you are gone no one can log in as you

ICT Staff will do these steps on the last day of employment:

  1. Assist user in forwarding mail back to email.psu.edu via www.work.psu.edu and remind user to use webmail.psu.edu from this point forward for reading mail. See Penn State WebMail2 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
  1. Assist in exporting PST files and Favorites to be filed appropriately.
  2. Submit request for the user to be removed from OU, shares, public resource, web account, SharePoint, all CAS email lists and exchange.
  3. Delete user account from EN computer and remove any user data, offline files or email ost/pst.

Retirement from Penn State and the College of Ag Sciences

Leave the College of Ag Sciences but remaining with Penn State

Transferring Departments with-in the College of Ag Sciences
