SRPLN Communications Committee 2009 Accomplishment Report

Committees are asked to answer these three questions by Thursday, August 27th. Be brief. The goal is to limit the report to one page.

1. What has your committee accomplished together in the last year as a result of PLN?
• The Communications Committee scheduled quarterly conference calls and completed 4 of the 5 calls. The first call was eliminated because of schedule conflicts, but information was shared with the group via email. During these calls the committee discussed the changes being made for the upcoming PLN meeting, generated a list of topics for the general meetings, discussed responsibilities of committee members and advisors, and shared information on the PLN 2008 Accomplishment report and the results from the focus group survey. • Individuals and groups worked on developing curriculums or moving those curriculums to eXtension. • Communications chair and vice-chair participated in the PLN Chair and Vice-Chair training. • Communications chair and vice-chair participated in two PLN conference calls with PLN leadership. • Several communications group members participate in the planning, launch and publicity for MiTT. • Several communications group members organized and participated in the Crisis Communications Training hosted by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Prairie View universities.

2. What has your committee accomplished together that it could not have accomplished without PLN?

The structure of the committee helped with the development of the national brand study on Extension, and also the creation of Mananging in Tough Times.

3. Please give a few examples of specific benefits to individual states.
