SRPLN Program and Staff Development Committee 2009 Accomplishment Report
Committees are asked to answer these three questions by Thursday, August 27th. Be brief. The goal is to limit the report to one page.
1. What has your committee accomplished together in the last year as a result of PLN?
- Made Presentation Skills Module available through http://pdc.extension.org
- Collaborated with a national community development training curriculum committee to identify resources.
- Made the decision to hold the 2009 Professional and Staff Development conference in a virtual setting in December.
- Began the process of developing a shared vision for a National Professional Development Association.
- Created a Facebook page for PSD professionals as a forum for sharing resources.
- Created a national PSD listserve, currently at 183 names.
- Collaborated with the Middle Managers to identify management skills resources for the development of modules targeting county directors.
- Hosted 4th SEAL conference in May 2009.
- Conducted and presented results of a qualitative and quantitative survey on PLN effectiveness.
- Completed writing impacts module.
2. What has your committee accomplished together that it could not have accomplished without PLN?
PLN allowed networking and joint grant opportunities, including multi-state grant opportunities. All other accomplishments identified in question one are the result of of PSD networking and collaboration.
3. Please give a few examples of specific benefits to individual states.
- Strengthen advisory councils through the use of SEAL materials.
- Programming materials from several states used to redisgn onboarding material.
- Through PSD committee participation, the need for a PSD position in the institution was highlighted.
- Parish chair competency model developed based on other states' competency models.
- Collaborated with Middle Managers to identify management training priorities and module development plan.
- Retention research results from two states. Provides insight into retention issues. Also, provides opportunties for further research projects.
- Gained input for promotion and tenure packet reviews for peers.
- Implemented surveys which have benefited states and regions.
