Talk:UNL Extension 4-H, Preparing the Extension Professional: Technically Teaching
From Extension Collaborative Wiki
As the presenter for the Social Networking piece I have a couple of points I would like to reiterate for everyone:
In working to craft social networking tools for use with the Nebraska 4-H youth program, keep in mind these bullets:
▸ Because of the nature of Social Networking sites you must work to minimize 4-H youth exposure to inappropriate materials and/or communications.
▸ Don’t assume these media will be appropriate to use for all ages of 4-H youth. ▸ Develop tools (accounts, groups, etc.) that have a closed membership. ▸ Create and post a set of rules to which site participants must adhere. ▸ Actively monitor sites for age appropriate materials, behavior, and adherence to youth appropriate rules.
▸ Review your personal accounts on the different social media and make sure you are modeling responsible social networking behavior.
▸ Remember the branding of your tools. Make sure that the University’s branding comes through both in logos and titles.
▸ Consider the photos that are loaded on web applications. Remember that we have a photo release form for a reason.
