Topics Targeted for Possible PDCoPs

Professional Development Communities of Practice
The eXtension Professional Development CoP Steering Committee was initially focused on the creation of PDCoPs (Professional Development Communities of Practice) to address Extension Core Competencies, particularly the competencies of Educational Programming, Engagement, Professionalism, and Leadership. Exploratory Adobe Connect conferences of potential PDCoP members were held in latter October 2008 to assess the level of common interest and to determine future courses of action.
Agendas and recordings of those conferences are available at the following sites:
As things have evolved, these potential PDCoPs have not yet taken flight. The topic of Engagement has been subsumed by the PDCoP Public Deliberation. A small core team continue to work to bring together leadership development faculty throughout the Cooperative Extension System to determine interest in becoming a PDCoP. However, adequate leadership has not surfaced to pursue Educational Programming or Professionalism. These are likely areas where organized professional development efforts are needed, but the Steering Committee is not in a position to recruit leadership for those efforts; they must be self-identified and self-organizing groups. Three such groups have thus far come together and become recognized PDCoPs: PDCoP Public Deliberation, PDCoP Evaluation, and PDCoP Brand Value
