</p><p>Our program seeks to educate homeowners through a self-help assistance program which provides literature and advice by trained volunteer Master Gardeners (called Florida Yard Advisors). Our program covers nine interrelated principles including: Right Plant, Right Place; Water Efficiently; Fertilize Appropriately; Mulch, Attract Wildlife; Manage Yard Pests Responsibly; Recycle; Reduce Stormwater Runoff; and Protect the Waterfront. Through our program homeowners learn how they can protect the Florida environment, and save money, one yard at a time. By incorporating enough of the FYN principles into their yard, homeowners can have their property recognized as Florida-Friendly.
