&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;My interests include the use of GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing in municipal government applications, especially as they relate to environmental protection and natural resources management.  I also am involved in several research projects that include 1) the use of multispectral and multitemporal satellite and airborne imagery and LiDAR data to classsifiy and map vegetation communities in Connecticut tidal marshes and in particular to identify &lt;i&gt;Phragmites australis&lt;/i&gt; and 2) automated methods to use geospatial technologies to create Land Type Associations for Connecticut and Rhode Island.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Geospatial Technology Program also has developed and regularly offers hands-on training programs that include 1) an introduction to GIS software and Connecticut's public domain data and 2) an introduction to the use and applications of low-cost hand-held GPS receivers.

&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Visit the sites below to see some examples of digital photos, geocoded with GPS-derived latitude, displayed in Google Earth.  On each page is a link to Google Earth.  Click the link and you you'll be off to visit some points n COnnecticut.  NOTE:  You will need Google Earth version 4 to display the photos.  Earlier versions will get you to the locations but will not display the photos.  Once Google Earth zooms to the location(s), click on the site icons to pop up the pictures and a brief description.  The first link will take you to a page with information about a benchmark we use in a GPS training course where you will find a link to Google Earth.  The second link will take you to a site with information about some ongoing research we are involved with.  If you click the Google Earth link it will take awhile to load because there are a lot of pictures.
