Using Basic Markup in MediaWiki Transcript part 1

In this activity, we will add some basic formatting to an article. The demonstration will be broken into three sections, highlighting the three types of formatting introduced this week.

First, we’ll look at adding section headers. From your article page, click edit. Scroll to the part of your article where you have the text for your section heading. Select the text for the section heading, and click the icon in the toolbar for the level two headlines. Notice the two equal signs on each side of the sections heading text. That is the wiki mark-up for section headings, that has been added for the article. You always start with level two headlines, because the title is the soon-to-be level one.

Scroll to the bottom, add summary comments, and click to save your page. Here is what the article looks like with the section headers. Your first task is to go to your article, and begin to give it some structure with section headings.
