Using Images in MediaWiki Transcript
From Extension Collaborative Wiki
Following is a transcript of the screencast:
This screencast is about uploading, linking and formatting images.
The most important first step after locating an image is making sure that it has a copyright that allows its use. Once you are sure you can upload the image to the Collaborate wiki, start by clicking on Upload File. This will take you to the upload file screen. The first thing you need to do is to tell it which file you want to upload. Click on Browse to select the file on your computer. Select the file on your computer that you would like to upload. Your file will now be displayed as the destination file name.
You still have more information to provide before you are ready to upload. Click in the summary box, and provide some information about where and how you found your image. Then be specific in telling about the image’s copyright status.
The image we found for use in this demonstration has a Creative Commons 1.0 license, and is free for us to use, as long as long as we provide the creator attribution. We provide that attribution in the source text box. We got this image from Flickr, and its creator was Lisandrocs. After we filled in the form completely, we click the upload file button, and your image will be uploaded to the site. After the file is uploaded, you will be presented with the screen where it indicates that your upload was successful.
In the next screencast, we will show you how to link and format your images.
